I’ve known John Wasson for years (please see the notes for his CoolBrass Jazztet record). He was working with Mike Levine in the Dallas Brass and Mike wanted to make a record of contemporary, rhythm section-based music for the ensemble. John reached out and asked me to write some charts. I wrote 6, and here are my two favorites.
